Mission

To instill in the students the fervour to pursue technical self-directed and critical learning and carry out projects catering to the health issues prevalent in the society and pave way for better living.

History of the Department

The department of Biochemistry was started in the year 1989. Our department has excellent infrastructural facilities and a well-furnished laboratory. The department comprises of highly spirited and dedicated teachers and Lab assistants. The department has a credit of organizing UGC sponsored seminar, Minor and Major research projects, workshops and TNSCST sponsored student’s projects. One DBT funded project was completed by the department.

Highlights of the Department

Our meritorious alumni are well placed as scientists in U.S.A., England, and in Australia as scientists. Our students students are placed in forensic science department, state and central government jobs, placed as teaching professionals in colleges, schools as and as technicians in hospitals.
Papers are presented in ISHR- International Society of Heart in U.S.A.
Research Articles are published in the reputed National and International journals.
Papers are presented regularly in National and International conferences.
Workshops/Conferences are regularly organized in collaboration with other life Science departments.
Unique reading club functions in the department, which has books other than academics. Biographies and motivation books.
The department recognizes the student office bearers with leadership quality and gives them all a small gift on the day of Farewell party.
Extra credit internship is introduced in curriculum and the field of internship is widened so that the students can broaden their area of employability.
Inter collegiate meet organized by the department on 21.02.2018.
Industrial visit is arranged for our students every year.

State level workshop on ‘Essential Lab skills in Molecular Biology Techniques- from theory to bench ‘was organized by our department on 19.1.2018
