Department of Commerce (CA) (Self)

Vision
  • To impart knowledge of Commerce so that the learners can spread the seeds of Commerce throughout the fields of society.
Mission
  • To provide an environment for understanding and learning Commerce.
  • To inculcate an aptitude towards Research Oriented higher studies.
  • To motivate the learners to undertake project works and to apply the findings and suggestions for the betterment of the society.
  • To transform Commerce graduates into dynamic entrepreneurs and potential job providers.
History of the Department
  • The department established as B.A. (Corporate Secretaryship) in 1996. The Nomenclature of our programme changed into B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship). It was converted into B.Com.(Computer Applications) in 2008-2009. The additional section was introduced in 2013-2014. The additional section was introduced in 2022-2023.
Highlights
  • Our department staff members attended more than 100 FDP through virtual mode.
  • Our department staff members completed more than 20 NPTEL courses.
  • Published 31 research articles in International Journals.
  • Paper presentation at National Level-67 and International Level-42 by the faculty is a commendable one.
  • Six of our faculties have completed Ph.D.
  • Well-equipped departmental library with 668 books.
  • Well-equipped computer laboratory by providing computer to the students in 1:1 ratio.
  • The students secured university ranks every year till 2008.
  • 194 students of our department got placed in various reputed institutions for the past 6 years.

  • V.Regina of III B.Com (CA) SF ‘B’ participated in drawing competition with the theme “What Good is Happening in India and Railways” conducted by Southern Railway/Madurai Division in connection with Foundation stone laying of Redevelopment of 508 stations held on 06.08.2023 and secured Third prize.
  • M.Udhaya Priya of III B.Com (CA) SF ‘B’ passed CMA Foundation Examination with the score of 222 out of 400.
  • Five students of III B.Com (CA) SF participated and won I prize in (Dance competition) Intercollegiate competition organised by A.K.D.R. College, Rajapalayam.
