To enable the students to qualify for professional courses like Chartered Accountancy (CA) course and Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA) course.

To provide an environment for gaining knowledge on professional avenues in Commerce.

History of the Department

B.Com. (Professional Accounting) programme has been started in the academic year 2017-2018 with thirty nine students. B.Com. Professional Accounting department has been established in the academic year 2018-2019.
The Department of B.Com. (Professional Accounting) also offers Institutional Certificate Courses in Fundamentals of FUnctional Studies, Advanced Accounting and Taxation and Advanced Business Studies.
The Department of B.Com. (Professional Accounting) also offers Institutional Diploma Courses in Fundamentals of Business Studies and Advanced Functional Studies.

Special Parents-Teachers meet is arranged to make the parents aware about the progress of their wards in professional courses coaching and to honour the parents of CA/CMA intermediate qualified students with shawl
3 Institutional Certificate Courses – Fundamentals of Functional Studies, Advanced Accounting and Taxation, Advanced Business Studies and 2 Institutional Diploma Courses – Fundamentals of Business Studies, Advanced Functional Studies have been introduced in the Academic year 2020-2021
Many students have got prizes in co-curricular and extra curricular activities in inter and intra collegiate competitions
Self Improvement Programme is conducted by the Department for Commerce (Professional Accounting) for faculty members working under Self Financing Stream for updation of knowledge
The courses related to the professional exams are handled by the visiting faculty Dr. R. Vairamuthuvel
In the year 2023-2024, one student has qualified CMA Intermediate Group-I.
Every year CA/CMA qualified Students are honoured by giving Shields and their Parents are honoured with Shawl.

On 29.10.2020, Department of Zoology conducted Rangoli Competition. Ms. M. Tabitha Safreen of I B.Com (Professional Accounting) received cash award of Rs. 300.
On 28.11.2020 Tamilnadu Yogasana Association organised 33rd Tamilnadu State Yogasana Championship 2020. Miss. D. Durga Devi of I B.Com (Professional Accounting) won I Prize in the age group of 18-21 category.
On 22.01.2021, Hindu Samaya Vazhipattukalagam organised “Isai Potti”. Miss.J.Sumathi of II.B.Com (Professional Accounting) won II Prize.

RYLA Camp was organised by Rotary Club of Virudhunagar on 06th and 07th March 2021. Miss.K.Ajitha of III B.Com (Professional Accounting) won III Prize in Team Event, Miss.V.Niyanthri of III B.Com (Professional Accounting) won Miss. RYLA award and Miss.M.Yuvarani of III B.Com (Professional Accounting) received ` 500 cash award in Team Event.
On account of World Forest Day celebration, Department of Botany organised Elocution competition. Miss. J. Sumathi of II B.Com (Professional Accounting) received ` 1000 cash award and Miss.V.Vishnu Priya of II B.Com (Professional Accounting) ` 500 cash award on 21.03.2021.

On account of CA day celebration, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Sivakasi Branch of SIRC, Sivakasi organised Inter Collegiate Competition titled “SITARA 2K23” on 26.08.2023.
