Department of Tamil (Self)

Vision
  • To motivate the students from the rural area in diverse fields of Tamil language.
  • The department focuses on excellence in all fields of Tamil knowledge for the benefit of the society.
Mission
  • To give the quality education for the students from the rural area, encouraging and motivating them to bring out their talents.
  • To develop their entrepreneurial skills and improve the confident level of the students.
History of the Department
  • Year of Inception - M.A(2003)
  • Year of Inception - M.Phil(2010)
  • The Department of Tamil (SF) also offers a University Affiliated Certificate Course in Psychology.
Highlights of the Department
  • The Tamil literary Association ‘Muthamizh Mandram’ functions actively and effectively throughout the year.
  • ‘Uthaya Gnayiru’- a departmental magazine is compiled every year by the students in which they contribute their creative writings in the form of poetry, prose and short stories.
  • Weekly assignment and test dates are decided in the beginning of the semester. Assignment and test marks are maintained by the individual teachers.
  • The second year PG students are trained to present research papers.
  • Group study is promoted.
  • students are motivated to win and possess attitude. It helps the students to bring laurels to the department at district level, intercollegiate, interdepartmental and state level in various fields of curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • personal counseling by ward systems.
  • Feed back and suggestions from students given due importance in planning.
  • Leave letter submission is compulsory. This enables to locate the absentees on long leave.
  • Internal marks are send to parents through sms.
  • Well furnished infrastructure facilities and updated learning resources.
  • Organising conferences and seminar every year.
  • The learning outcomes are monitored through the pass percentage of students.
  • To improve the research and oratorical skill of students bygiven topic in the meetings of ‘Aktchaya Paathiram’.
  • The noble objectives of the college are being followed carefully by the department.
  • Every year Bharathi Vizha in celebrated. School level & College level competition are conducted.
